Design elements of corrugated metal hose forming machine

The hydraulic metal hoses forming machine consists of a mandrel, a pair of push dies and a pair of die sheets. The cross-sectional shape of their working parts changes according to the cross-sectional shape of the metal hoses. The material should be medium carbon steel or ordinary alloy steel. The requirements for strength, hardness and toughness can be the same as the general mold design standards, but the geometric dimensions of each part of the mold and the determination of form and position tolerances must be considered based on the mature experience gained from long-term practice. Below, we will introduce the design elements of its forming mold in detail.

(I) Non-column and different axiality

For small and medium-sized bellows with a diameter of less than 150 mm or various equivalent cross-sections and different waveforms, the different axiality of the working part of the push die center cannot be greater than 0.03-0.05 mm, and the non-column cannot be greater than 0.05-0.08 mm. Especially for the corrugated pipe mold with a rectangular cross-section, the requirements are even higher. Otherwise, when the mold is closed, the pipe blank may be bitten and leaked, resulting in the failure of corrugation forming due to pressure loss. Even if the tube has not been bitten (only bitten), the wall thickness of this part will become thinner during the bellows forming machine. This will inevitably affect its service life. For rectangular cross-section bellows, the corrugation thickness and trough width on the four faces may be uneven, or the corrugation depth may be different. Therefore, strictly mastering the tolerance of non-column and different axiality is a basic principle in the design of bellows hydraulic forming molds.

(II) Matching

When designing the mold, of course, it cannot be mechanically converted according to the diameter and wall thickness of the tube blank. Due to the manufacturing tolerance of the tube blank, the delicateness of the thin wall of the tube and the characteristics of the single-wave continuous forming process, the push die, the die sheet and the outer surface of the tube blank should be statically matched or equivalent to statically matched according to the size of the bellows cross-section. There is no gap between them. In order to ensure that there is no leakage during the forming process, the outer diameter of the sealing ring should be larger than the outer diameter of the mandrel, so that the actual support of the tube blank mounted on the mandrel is the sealing ring, not the mandrel itself.

(III) Determination of fillet value

On the mold of the bellows forming machine, the R value of each part has different functions. The size of the R value directly affects the molding quality of the bellows. Due to the different materials and specifications, the rebound amount after the corrugation is also different. Whether the R value is properly determined is directly related to whether qualified products can be produced. Therefore, carefully analyzing the practical significance of each R value is also an aspect that cannot be ignored in the design of the bellows hydraulic forming mold.
